Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge Sales Rumoured To Be On The Slim Side

Is this a surprising development? Despite the phone being a stunning piece of engineering, it appears to be a harder sell.

Samsung’s latest addition to the Galaxy S25 series, the thinner than you’d expect Galaxy S25 Edge, is turning heads for its design but not necessarily for its sales performance. Despite its engineering feats, SamMobile is reporting that the device is not meeting Samsung’s sales expectations.

In case you didn’t know, the S25 Edge is just 5.8mm thick, making it the thinnest in the S25 lineup by a long way. It houses the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, has a 200MP main camera and a Titanium frame. For those reasons, Samsung priced the Edge in line with the S25 Plus, meaning it falls into a premium smartphone category.

Alongside the battery life, this was one of the main criticisms upon launch. Surely if Samsung wanted to attract customers, a more enticing price point would have been around the $999 mark, considering you are sacrificing a camera lens and S-Pen too?

It appears that this strategy is now playing out as expected. Despite its design and specifications, the S25 Edge is reportedly underperforming in sales. Industry insiders indicate that the device has not attracted the anticipated consumer interest. Notably, Samsung has refrained from disclosing early sales figures, a departure from its usual practice when launching flagship devices.

Samsung views the S25 Edge as a “Goldilocks” device, aiming to balance performance and portability. Blake Gaiser, Samsung America’s Mobile Director, emphasised the device’s design and user experience, stating that it offers flagship capabilities in a lightweight form. But selling this to a more general consumer market might prove difficult.

While the S25 Edge’s initial sales may not be stellar, it’s still early days. Samsung’s marketing strategies and potential discounts could influence future performance and the iPhone 17 Air could boost general interest in thin phones.
