I cover headphones a lot, so of course I’d be drawn to a pair at CES. But that doesn’t mean they got on my best of 2025 list easily, quite the contrary since I’ve tried about a million of them.

In fact, the JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones were quaking in their boots (or case), when they saw me coming. And when I got a chance to test them…I was impressed. These are a different pair of headphones than the standard Epic Lux headphones which I’ll get into later.

Here’s why they made my best of CES list.

Buy JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition here!

    They sound great

When it comes to sound quality, the JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones offer a well-balanced, rich and immersive listening experience across a range of genres. This is mostly thanks to the high-fidelity 32mm dynamic drivers which offer a really excellent, rounded audio profile right out of the box.

The bass is deep but not overwhelming, the mids are clear and well-pronounced, and the treble is crisp without being harsh.

Plus, the JLab app allows you to play around with audio settings to get your desired set-up.

    ANC and Transparency Mode

The Epic Lux Lab edition headphone shave both ANC and transparency mode which JLab calls ‘Be Aware’.

The ANC does a stellar job at blocking out external noise, some of the best I’ve experienced in a pair of headphones. Even in high-noise environments like the convention space in Las Vegas, the ANC performance rivals brands like Sony and Bose.

The transparency mode is good too although is probably the weakest part of the overall experience. I’ve yet to really find a transparency mode in over-ear headphones that really nails letting outside noises in. But the Epic Lux do a good enough job.

    They feel great

What’s lovely about the Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones is how comfortable they are. The earcups are made with ‘Cloud foam cushions’ (memory foam to you and I) and they feature adjustable hinges meaning they suit a range of head shapes.

The headband is equally well-cushioned, distributing weight evenly and ensuring that pressure doesn’t build up on the top of your head during extended listening sessions.

Despite being sturdy, the headphones remain lightweight, making them perfect for long-haul flights or marathon work sessions. The overall build quality is top-notch, with a combination of metal and plastic that gives them a premium feel without adding unnecessary heft.

    The battery life is brilliant

Battery life can make or break a pair of wireless headphones for me. It’s super annoying having them die on you when you’re out and about and you end up carrying around useless bulk all day.

And it’s especially annoying having to add them to the list of things I need to remember to charge every night.

Luckily, the Epic Lux Lab Edition ANC headphones offer over 60 hours of playback time with ANC turned on, which easily beats most competitors out there. But just wait for this; with ANC turned off you can stretch that number even further to around 90 hours (!!). If you didn’t know, that’s a lot.

For most users, this means you can go for days or perhaps even a week without needing to recharge.

    They have wireless charging

These headphones are also wireless charge compatible. Simply place them on a QI-compatible charging pad, and they start juicing up without the need for any cables. This is a small but significant convenience, especially for those who are trying to minimize cable clutter.

    The price is irresistible

And finally, a huge reason why I think these headphones are worthy of an award. The JLab Epic Lux Lab Edition are only $199/£167.

For that price you get great audio quality, customisation, ANC, transparency mode and a ridiculous battery life. I cannot think of a better value-for-money pair of headphones.

    Conclusion

The Epic Lux Lab Edition have earned their spot on my Best of CES 2025 list for a reason. Well, many reasons.

They sound fantastic, feel great to wear, and offer outstanding battery life with the added convenience of wireless charging, all for a price that seems hard to believe. While the headphone market is highly competitive, these will be attracting a lot of attention Im sure thanks to that highly competitive pricing.
