At CES 2024, Aiper introduced a whole bunch of new smart pool cleaners including the Scuba S1 and S1 Pro.

If you’ve got a pool and hate the thought of the cleaning routine, these things are, clearly, built for you. The fact they are mesmerising to watch is just a huge bonus.

As a result, the Aiper booth at CES was absolutely packed – and not just because of the dancing, drinks, and snacks on offer; they really do appear to have hit a very engaged market when it comes to smart pool cleaners.

Let’s dive into the features you can expect from the Scuba S1 and the S1 Pro.

Gallons and gallons of pool cleaning per minute

The Scuba pool cleaner series is designed to tackle both easy and super-tough cleaning jobs. It does this via a dual-layer filtration system which works alongside quad-brushless motors. This enables the pool cleaners to dedicate more power and suction to the task at hand.

    Aiper Scuba S1

This results in some seriously impressive numbers. The Scuba S1 Pro, for instance, has a suction power of 100 gallons per minute which it can maintain for up to 180 minutes. The S1 is capable of 70 gallons per minute for up to 150 minutes.

These pool cleaners can pick up debris that’s as small as 3 microns and store it securely in a huge 5-litre debris basket in the S1 Pro (the S1 basket is a still-impressive 3.5L). There are four cleaning modes to choose from on the S1 Pro, as well, including floor cleaning, wall cleaning, floor and wall cleaning, and periodic cleaning.

    A first: horizontal waterline cleaning

The Scuba S1 Pro is the first cordless robotic pool cleaner to feature horizontal waterline cleaning capabilities. I watched this in action at the Aiper booth at CES 2024, and it was super impressive; the S1 Pro gently makes its way across the pool wall, cleaning every inch in its wake.

Aiper’s WaveLine technology makes this possible, and, combined with impressive flow control and infrared sensors, the S1 Pro is capable of manoeuvring around the pool – and any obstacles you may have inadvertently left in its path.

The Scuba S1 uses WavePath Navigation 2.0 technology to automatically and intelligently navigate the bottom of your pool. This uses inertial, infrared, and acceleration sensors which means cleaning coverage is also enhanced.

So, no more missed areas, and no more repetitive cleans. And you haven’t even lifted a finger! Well, that is, unless you want to – which brings me to the Aiper app.

Smart Control via the Aiper app

The Scuba series pool cleaners can be happily left to their own devices, but if you’d like a bit more control (and, let’s be honest, the inescapable cool factor), you can use your phone to interact with and control the Scuba S1 and S1 Pro.

This is achieved via a base station which floats in the pool and acts as a waypoint between the Aiper pool cleaner and your smartphone. From the Aiper app, you can then select different cleaning modes and view detailed reports on your water’s health.

Fancy manually controlling your Aiper Scuba pool cleaner? You can do that via the Aiper app, too!

Oh, and did I mention there’s optional solar charging, as well? That’s yet another point of hassle removed from pool cleaning when you invest in the services of an Aiper Scuba.

Built to last – and perform

The Aiper Scuba series uses caterpillar treads to enable seriously impressive mobility around your pool, no matter the condition of the surface.

    Aiper Scuba S1 Pro

As noted earlier, they’ll also navigate their way around obstacles such as drains and water inlets and, in the case of the S1 Pro, climb 115° sloped walls. Watching that device automatically climb effortlessly up the side of the Aiper demo pool at CES was quite a sight.

The Scuba series feels tough and ready for action, and it also includes built-in, removable filters that are specially designed to filter out the stains and debris you often find in pools.

    Wrapping up

The demonstrations of the Scuba S1 and S1 Pro at CES this year were as impressive as the cocktails and snacks being served from the Aiper bar.

If you’ve got a pool and want to invest in your own time and the health of the pool, they’re a no-brainer. What’s more, there’s a whole range to choose from which suits all budgets and requirements.
