Dreame X50 Ultra Climbs (Small) Steps and Cleans Very Well: Best of CES 2025

Today on my CES awards, we’re discussing a typical Mark Ellis Reviews bit of tech. And by typical, I mean a product that’s got a great camera, is run by AI, and literally swallows up your dead skin cells…

Now, believe it or not, it’s not the latest iPhone, but the Deame X50 Ultra robotic vacuum cleaner. And boy, is this a feature-packed and highly useful bit of kit. Yes, the X50 Ultra vacuum has made my Best Of CES 2025 list and here are the very good reasons why.

    Buy Dreame X50 Ultra here!

It won’t suck up your belongings

The Dreame X50 Ultra features advanced obstacle recognition powered by enhanced AI navigation. That means it has the ability to recognise and avoid up to 200 different types of objects.

It constantly scans and picks out the stuff it knows it isn’t allowed to suction up, like kids’ toys, stray socks or phone chargers.

This means it not only protects your belonging but there’s a lot less chance it will suck up a Lego and explode.

It adjusts to new environments – STEPS!

The Dreame X50 Ultra can go up steps! Not even old-school Darleks could do that.

Well, small ones, and not full-on staircases. But STILL, this is an entirely unique skill to Dreame. The robot vacuum is equipped with the ProLeap System, which allows it to handle obstacles like steps and thresholds up to 6cm high.

Combined with the VersaLift Navigation that adjusts radar height for accurate 3D perception, the X50 Ultra ensures smooth operation even in complex home layouts. This is just one of the features that demonstrates how intelligent the X50 Ultra is.

    It’s got great suction

Delivering up to 20,000 Pa of suction power with its HyperStream technology, the X50 Ultra excels at deep cleaning on various floor types.

Whether it’s carpets, hardwood, or tiles, the dual brush system gives you a pretty consistent clean every time. The HyperStream Detangling DuoBrush combines two brushes spinning in complementary directions to maximise cleaning efficiency. This all sounds a bit like mumbo-jumbo but the results speak for themselves; the X50 Ultra cleans very well.

At the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

    It mops

This is probably my favourite feature. The X50 Ultra vacuums AND mops.

It does this with oscillating mopping pads which do a good job of covering floor space. The mop self-cleaning feature uses water heated up to 80°C to remove residue and sanitise the mop pads, providing a hygienic cleaning process.

This all happens automatically too with the device able to detect when it is on a moppable surface.

    It cleans itself

Have you met a hoover that bathes itself?

The multifunctional dock empties the dustbin, washes mop pads with hot water, refills the water tank, and dries the mops after use, ensuring the vacuum is ready for the next cleaning session.

And I think this epitomises why I love the Dreame X50 Ultra so much. It does all it can to try and take the stress out of cleaning for you. Dreame has jammed it full of capabilities to take robotic vacuum cleaning from a novelty to a genuinely useful product.

    Other features

You want more? Ok, well how about voice control? Because the X50 Ultra has that too and it works well even above the noise.

It can also clean under low spaces like furniture while the SideReach feature means the X50 Ultra can clean under ledges that are too low for it to reach. There is also compatibility with the Apple Watch and smart speakers like Alexa so you can link the X50 Ultra up to your smart home system.

The battery is also nice and large, giving you about 220 minutes of cleaning in Quiet Mode, or up to 205m2 of floor space.

    Conclusion

The Dreame X50 has some minor concerns like battery life and navigating highly intricate layouts, but overall, this vacuum is extremely innovative.

I read something the other day about how people wish AI would clean their rooms and do their chores rather than create their art and steal their jobs.

Well, here’s something that will please everybody.

I am impressed with the Dreame X50 Ultra prowess in overcoming hard tasks and cleaning efficiently. I like the use of ProLeap technology for obstacle detection of up to 6 cm in height. It also features powerful suction of up to 20,000 Pa which can tackle any debris and dust.
