Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch the next generation of its foldable smartphone lineup, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, in July 2025. This follows on from the release of the Galaxy S25 phone series earlier this year and the rollout of OneUI 7 globally across multiple device ranges.
Reports from The JoongAn state that Samsung will hold an Unpacked event in New York, where they have announced previous Z Fold models in the past. An exact date is unknown but early July seems highly likely, after the 4th July holiday in the USA.
This marks another step in a busy year for Samsung who are also expected to release the Samsung Galaxy Edge in May 2025.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 Expected To Be Thinner Than Ever
The trend with foldable is to keep getting thinner. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 should be no different with rumours suggesting that it will be Samsung’s thinnest foldable yet, potentially measuring approximately 4.5mm when unfolded and around 9.5mm when folded, including the camera bump.
Speculation has also placed the internal display size at 8.2 inches with a 6.5-inch external screen.
Upgraded Camera and Performance
Under the hood, the Z Fold 7 is anticipated to house Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the same one found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The camera system is also rumoured for an upgrade, with some claiming the arrival of a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor.
Additional Devices
Often accompanying the Z Fold is the Z Flip, a smaller vertical folding device, so we can expect to see the new Z Flip 7 announced too in July if the Unpacked event does go ahead.
Besides this, there are also rumours flying around about Samsung’s Tri-Fold smartphone, the ‘Galaxy G Fold’ which may also make an appearance, potentially making for a very busy July.
