Samsung has finally put an end to the speculation: the Galaxy S25 Edge, the company’s new thin phone, will be unveiled during a virtual Unpacked event on Monday 12th May 8 PM ET or 1 AM BST on Tuesday 13th May in the UK.
The Unpacked event was confirmed on Samsung’s YouTube channel, where the live briefing will also take place.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is Samsung’s latest attempt to redefine the term “slim.” At around 5.85mm thick, it will be the thinnest Samsung Galaxy phone ever.
But don’t let its slim profile fool you. The phone is also expected to pack a punch with a 200MP main camera, the same sensor found in the beefier S25 Ultra, paired with a 12MP ultra-wide lens. It is also expected to be powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip from the rest of the S25 lineup and boast a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
To achieve its ultra-thin design, Samsung would have had to have made some compromises. Speculation suggests that the S25 Edge could lack a dedicated zoom lens and house a smaller battery.
Preorders for the Edge will likely open shortly after the 12th May event with Samsung offering a $50 preorder discount in line with its now standard release practices. Pricing is as yet unknown but is expected to fall between $1,100 and $1,300, positioning it between the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra.
The Galaxy S25 Edge will stand in direct competition with Apple’s unconfirmed but heavily rumoured iPhone 17 Air, Apple’s first ever phone to directly prioritise thinness. It seems Samsung has won the race to release its version first.
