Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro is still months away from its expected September debut, but the rumor mill is already churning out some juicy tidbits. The latest? Leaked images of purported iPhone 17 Pro cases suggest a camera bump so large, it might need its own post code.

According to leaker Sonny Dickson, the cases show a significantly enlarged cutout for the rear camera module compared to the iPhone 16 Pro. This aligns with earlier rumours that Apple is planning a major redesign for the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera system. The new setup will reportedly feature a horizontal camera bar spanning the width of the device, reminiscent of the Google Pixel.
There’s likely a method to Apple’s redesign, they rarely do things for the sake of it. Although, the emergence of Apple Intelligence may tell a different story.
The expanded module could accommodate advanced camera technology, such as a 48-megapixel telephoto lens, improved LiDAR capabilities or better thermal efficiency. The design offers something more symmetrical than previous iPhones, aligning the microphone, lenses and flash module centrally rather than to one side.
If it is true, it would represent the biggest change in design philosophy for the iPhone for years.
As always, it’s wise to take these leaks with a grain of salt. The iPhone 17 series won’t be released until September 2025. Only then will we know for sure what the iPhone 17 Pro will look like.
