    iOS 19 Might Not Support Some Older iPhones

    Spring is here which means a new iOS version is on the way and with it the annual iPhone survival check. This time, MacRumors are reporting that iOS 19 might be dropping support for older devices, leaving iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR users in the lurch.

    Who’s In, Who’s Out?

    The rumours suggest that iOS 19 will only support iPhone 11 and newer models. If true, iOS 18 would be the last major update for the iPhone XS series and XR. This is as yet unconfirmed by Apple.

    Conflicting Reports

    Interestingly, earlier rumours claimed that iOS 19 wouldn’t drop support for any iPhones and that all phones currently running iOS 18 would be safe. If that’s the case, the XS and XR could live to see another update. Until Apple makes an official announcement, it’s a waiting game.

    When Will We Know for Sure?

    Apple is set to announce iOS 19 at WWDC on June 9, 2025. The first beta will drop soon after, giving us a clearer picture of which devices made the cut. The official release should arrive in September alongside the iPhone 17.

    Other rumoured iOS 19 features include a significant redesign of the user interface to borrow from Vision OS and a restrained upgrade to Siri’s capabilities.
