YouTube guy. I review and talk about tech.

Last weekend, I left my iPhone at home while I went about my business elsewhere. I travelled to the studio, visited the gym, and did stuff out and about with the family. Without my iPhone. For the first time in ten years. The only problem I encountered was the fact that I missed a few texts from important people – and that’s only because I’m still waiting for an eSIM QR code from EE to switch my main number to the S24 Ultra. Everything else was hunky dory. My watch (currently a Garmin MARQ Commander), Whoop band, credit cards, favourite…

I’m currently awaiting delivery of a QR code from EE, my mobile network provider. They had to send one in the post for my eSIM because, obviously, the downloadable version didn’t work. This was, predictably, the only tricky element I encountered while switching from the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Mind you, I say “predictably” – I genuinely forgot my iPhone had an eSIM until the very last minute. Despite this, I do have two SIM cards, and I had, by that point, swapped over all Bluetooth accessories and apps I hold dear to Samsung’s…

Buy the Momentum True Wireless 4 I’ve recently switched from the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. This has nothing to do with a Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds review, but my decision to go all-in on Android is rather timely. I could, of course, use my beloved AirPods Pro 2 with the S24 Ultra, but that feels a bit… wrong. And while I have a boatload of earbuds from which to choose at Mark Ellis Reviews HQ, I’m all for trying out something that claims to offer “future-proof technologies”. That’s where the Momentum True…

This is it, folks! It’s time to put my money where my mouth is – or, more specifically, my secondary smartphone where my primary smartphone is. I’m already rambling. Waffling. Dancing around the subject. Let’s cut to the chase. I’m finally switching from the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. And, this time, I’m doing it properly. No, really. This decision has left me both excited and nervous. More of the latter, to be honest. However, I have some very good reasons for doing this, which I’ve boiled down to six in particular. The good news…

Well, we were expecting a press release from Apple yesterday, weren’t we? Just not that one. Ahem. Although, I’m not complaining. We need WWDC 2024 more than ever. Apple certainly does. Confirmed as taking place between 10th and 14th June, Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference is a chance for Apple to swing the spotlight away from its legal troubles (we won’t go into those today) and towards the future of its operating systems. There are two letters which are destined to be cast across the entire event – and I think we all know what they are – but what…

It’s hard to believe that it’s been six months since the iPhone 15 Pro Max immediately became my default smartphone of choice. This iPhone 15 Pro Max long-term review isn’t going to head deep into the reasons I’m not switching to a different smartphone (namely, the S24 Ultra), because I’ve spoken plenty about that in the past and I think the people who have called me an idiot eleventeen seventy times are probably bored of doing so. Instead, I’m going to reveal what Apple’s flagship smartphone is like to live with for half a year. What are the stars of…

We shouldn’t be running away from AI. I’m not suggesting you are, but I’m pretty sure you’ve thought about it. I have. I think we all have. The more we see of the capabilities of ChatGPT and the countless other generative AI products that continue to flood the market, the more tempting it is to throw in the towel and say, “well, what’s the point of doing this anymore?”. Go on – admit it, you’ve had those feelings, haven’t you? If you have, it’s nothing to be ashamed of. I’d imagine every generation goes through this at least once during…

Yesterday, the US government filed an antitrust lawsuit against Apple, claiming that the company is creating a monopoly with customers and developers paying the price. Ouch. This is the start of a very long road. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has opened a right old can of worms, and Apple is, unsurprisingly, rather pissed off. That means an almighty back-and-forth is about to take place for, one would expect, several years. The ramifications for Apple being found guilty are significant. It could change the way Apple products interact with each other, open up the doors to the Apple ecosystem…

Buy the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds You’ve probably never seen a pair of Bose earbuds like this before. In fact, brand aside, you’ve possibly never seen a pair of earbuds like this before. That is, unless you caught my review of the Huawei FreeClip earbuds last year, which were the first of a kind for yours truly and, clearly, for a lot of my audience. The premise with earbuds like this is to enable the sounds of the world around you to filter into your ear canal as usual while still being able to enjoy your favourite music or podcasts.…

Having covered the iPad a lot over the last four years, I’m acutely aware that there’s always a significant number of people out there either waiting to upgrade their iPad, or who are heading into the world of iPadOS for the very first time. However, the iPad suffers from an achilles heel, which isn’t obvious at first. It’s the fact that we never know when a new one if going to arrive. Waiting desperately for the iPad mini 7? Wondering if the iPad Air is a good buy today with a potential update on the horizon? Trying to figure out…
